AudibleSpeed (GPS Speed Monitor) offers continuous audible feedback regarding your current speed, providing real-time monitoring at all times.

This application enables users to define multiple speed ranges, each associated with a sound effect and a customizable RGB color code. The full-featured version allows for unlimited range definitions, while the express edition limits users to three ranges.

The app utilizes your iPhone's built-in GPS to track your speed, displaying this data in both digital and analogue ("speedometer") formats. Additionally, it plots a graph covering the last 80 seconds of speed data. Whenever your speed enters a predefined range, the corresponding sound effect plays; it can also be set to replay repeatedly at configurable intervals as long as your speed remains within that range.

Visual cues are provided through background color changes matching the selected range's color. The interface displays the range name (or the sound effect name if no range name is specified), along with other session parameters. The app also tracks and presents maximum and average speeds, as well as total trip time and distance traveled.

In situations where GPS signal is unavailable—such as tunnels, urban canyon environments, indoors—or when GPS data becomes outdated (older than five seconds), a warning beep sounds, and the display flashes black and white to alert the user.

During first use, the app guides users through an initial setup process including a warning/disclaimer screen and a settings configuration page for selecting units (MPH, KM/H, etc.). It then generates sample speed ranges tailored to the chosen units, which users may modify or delete subsequently.

Since the app relies on GPS for speed measurement, it requires permission to access "Location Services" and necessitates that this feature be enabled with "Airplane Mode" turned off in the device settings.

Although the app retrieves longitude, latitude, and altitude data for display and distance calculations—without storing or tracking this positional data—it does not function as a GPS tracking or navigation tool.

Note that prolonged GPS usage in the background may significantly diminish battery life. It is recommended that users connect their device to an external power source when using the app in a vehicle setting.
